Features and Photography

Now that we know about the History of Journalism, now we can go into the Features and Photography side of Journalism. Trends. A major category where journalist and photographers thrive in today’s society. Photography is a major key in this category because photographers want to catch up on the latest trends that happening in the world. Relevant or Relevance is also a category where BOTH photographers and journalist thrive in. If you don’t know what Relevant or Relevance means, Relevant means a general direction in which something is developing or changing or a fashion. This is a major part of Features and Photography because people are attracted to things like fashion, and things that are getting noticed.

Aperture is a lense for a camera specified as an f-number, the ratio of focal length to effective aperture diameter. A lens typically has a set of marked "f-stops" that the f-number can be set to. This is typically what photographers use to get a certain angle.

Depth of Field in optics, particularly as it relates to film and photography, depth of field (DOF), also called focus range or effective focus range, is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image. This is what photographers use to capture some of the most important events in HISTORY, or even sports.

White balance (WB) is the process of removing unrealistic color casts, so that objects which appear white in person are rendered white in your photo. Proper camera white balance has to take into account the "color temperature" of a light source, which refers to the relative warmth or coolness of white light. It’s what photographers use to add colour or mono to a picture.

In photography, shutter speed or exposure time is the length of time when the film or digital sensor inside the camera is exposed to light, also when a camera's shutter is open when taking a photograph. The amount of light that reaches the film or image sensor is proportional to the exposure time. It’s what adjusts the light on the camera so the shot won’t get messed up in way.

In Digital Photography ISO measures the sensitivity of the image sensor. The same principles apply as in film photography – the lower the number the less sensitive your camera is to light and the finer the grain. Higher ISO settings are generally used in darker situations to get faster shutter speeds. This is what photographers use to make the picture look darker in a certain place and time.
